The location for the new Rabigh Desalination Plant is situated south of the Petrorabigh Facilities, on the flat, sandy coastal plains.Up to Highway 5 the pipeline route is parallel to SEC overhead line corridor. In the base case the pipelines are laid between the existing ARAMCO pipeline and the SEC overhead line (partially under the service road which shall be reinstated after pipe laying). The pipelines shall be buried (no embankment) and designed for SLW 600 traffic loads as per G02, item 6 to allow future maintenance of ARAMCO pipeline. If the approval for this route is not provided by Third Parties or width is not sufficient as an alternative one or both pipelines shall be laid between the overhead line towers as indicated on the route maps (two single lines or one twin line). Small overhead line towers need to be relocated in this case.
